Amsterdam’s summer session starts on 4 August with Dance Valley and culminates on 27 August with Mysteryland. The events are easily accessed from the city centre and take place in some of the region’s most beautiful backdrops – including the Spaarnwoude Nature Reserve.

Dance Valley - Amsterdam (4 August 2012)
The biggest open-air dance festival in Holland. Each year 50,000 clubbers descend on the idyllic Spaarnwoude nature reserve outside Amsterdam. DJs including Roger Sanchez and Afrojack to keep the crowds rocking all day and into the night. Prices start from 55 Euro from www.dancevalley.com
Loveland Festival - Amsterdam (11 August 2012)
Held in the city’s park Loveland features over 50 international DJs including Sven Väth, Carl Craig and Tiefschwarz spread over eight stages, it's a major event on the summer dance calendar. Tickets are still available from 55 Euro.
Mysteryland Festival - Amsterdam (25 August 2011)
This annual event is a mixture of dance and hip hop and always attracts huge crowds due its eccentric atmosphere and setting. Day tickets cost 67 Euro and are available from www.mysteryland.com
Eurolines operate up to six services a day to Amsterdam during July and August with prices starting from £58 return. The company recently introduced a new, faster overnight service which bypasses several stops on the standard route to cut almost two hours off the journey time.
